Terms of use

Acceptance

By using SolarCalcWorks you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

These tools are design aids, not engineering

The calculators on this site are educational and planning tools. They are not a substitute for a licensed electrician, a professional engineer, the manufacturer's installation instructions, or the requirements of your local authority having jurisdiction.

Electrical work carries risk of fire, electric shock and death. An incorrectly sized conductor can overheat inside a wall where you will not see it. Battery systems can deliver thousands of amps into a fault. Do not perform electrical work you are not qualified and legally permitted to perform.

Accuracy and code editions

We work hard to make the calculations correct and we publish our complete methodology and source list so results can be verified independently. We do not warrant that results are error-free or suitable for any particular installation.

Results reference NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code, 2023 edition. Your jurisdiction may enforce a different edition or apply local amendments. Voltage drop recommendations are design guidance drawn from NEC informational notes and are not enforceable code requirements. You are responsible for verifying any result against the code actually in force where the work is being done.

No warranty

The site and its calculators are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SolarCalcWorks shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, property or life, arising out of or relating to your use of this site or reliance on any result it produces.

Acceptable use

You may use these calculators freely for personal and commercial purposes, including sizing systems you are paid to design or install. You may not scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for others, republish its calculation tables or content as your own, or represent results as having been reviewed or certified by us.
